June Strunk, 83, of Ottumwa and formerly of Fremont, died Tuesday, September 5, 2017, at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Ottumwa. She was born February 8, 1934, in Oskaloosa, the daughter of Clarence and Retha (McConnell) Tandy.

June attended Fremont Schools. On February 9, 1952, she was united in marriage to Richard L. Strunk, at the Fremont United Methodist Church.

Following their marriage June stayed home to care for her family and home.

June was an active member of the Fremont United Methodist Church in Fremont. She enjoyed doing crafts, especially painting, and working on puzzles. June also enjoyed collecting buttons and was a member of the National Button Society. She delighted in spending time with her family.

Her family includes her son, Terry Strunk of Oskaloosa; three grandchildren: Amber Strunk, Melissa Strunk, and Nicholas Strunk; six great grandchildren: Alexis, Kaleigh, Owen, Jordan, Anthony, and Evey.

June was preceded in death by her husband Richard, who died on June 7, 2014; and her parents.

Graveside funeral service and burial will be held Saturday, September 9, 2017, at 1 p.m. in the Cedar Township Cemetery north of Fremont with Pastor Linzy Collins officiating.
A procession will form at the Bates Funeral Chapel on Saturday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. for those wishing to attend the graveside service. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Open visitation will begin Friday, September 8, 2017 after 12:00 noon until 6:00 pm.
