Lynette “Joy” Greenlee, age 70, of Eddyville, Iowa, passed away at the MHP Hospice Serentiy House. She was born on July 31, 1953, in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of LaRoy J. and Joan (McDonald) Moriarty.

She attended Washington High School and graduated with the class of 1971. Following graduation, she went to Airline School, in Kansas City, MO.

On May 19, 1972, she united in marriage to Stephen “Doug” Greenlee in Washington, Iowa. To this union, three children were born, Adam, Heather, and Shara.

Early on Joy worked in the seed lab in Coon Rapids. She provided childcare and then went to work at Rockwell Collins in Manchester. After moving to Eddyville, she worked in the guidance office at Eddyville Blakesburg School. She was employed there until retiring in 2014, after 30 years of service.

She served on the Eddyville Public Library board, and she was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oskaloosa. She was a volunteer member of the CC Club in Eddyville, and a faithful member of the Crusader Prayer Group. She enjoyed traveling and visiting family.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 52 years, Doug Greenlee; a son, Adam (Kimberly) Greenlee of Newburgh, IN; two daughters, Heather (Michael) James of Ottumwa, IA, Shara (Kevin) Rice of Conway, AR; 9 grandchildren, Vivienne Greenlee, Shaylee Greenlee, Knox Rice, Lydia Greenlee, Kale James, Emma Rice, Micah Greenlee, Miriam Greenlee, Madelyn Rice; Two great-grandchildren, River Greenlee and Reign Baird; two sisters, Carol Moriarty of Ukiah, CA, Ellen (Gary) Greene of Oskaloosa, IA; a brother, Roy (Jane) Moriarty of Ottumwa, IA; Her mother in-law, Ellene “Joy” Greenlee, of Washington, IA; A brother in-law, Shaun Greenlee of Washington, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oskaloosa with Reverand Joseph Phung officiating. Burial will be in Highland Park in Eddyville. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will begin Friday, March 8, 2024, after 1:00 P.M at the Bates Funeral Chapel with Joy’s family present from 6 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. to greet friends and relatives. At 5:00 p.m. the Rosary will be prayed at the funeral chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Eddyville Public Library or MHP Hospice Serenity House
