Jones Awarded Player of the Week Laurel

Oskaloosa–Torren Jones (Sr., Chandler, Ariz., Sociology) was a double-double machine last week and his efforts netted him Heart of America Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week honors presented by Hillyard Monday.

Jones, a first-time recipient, averaged 23.0 points and 14.0 rebounds as #3 William Penn (3-0, 1-0 Heart) won two games to remain perfect on the season.

The senior forward, who shot 72.0% from the field overall (71.4% FT), scored 14 points with 14 rebounds against Iowa Wesleyan Tuesday and then added a career-high 32 points and 14 rebounds versus #23 Central Methodist in league action Saturday.

For the year, Jones is averaging 19.0 points and 11.7 rebounds. He also has two assists, two blocks, and one steal to his credit. Jones has made 71.0% of his shots (22-for-31) and is 65.0% at the line.

The award is the first for the program.
