John Rauch, 48, of Oskaloosa died Friday, January 22, 2021 at the MHP Emergency Room in Oskaloosa. He was born in Iowa City, Iowa the son of Gary and Patricia Treat Misner. As a young boy he and his sister Jennifer were adopted by David and Karen Gripp Rauch.

John attended school in Tucson, Arizona. In 1988, he moved to Oskaloosa.

On April 6, 1997, he was united in marriage to Shirley Nichols in Oskaloosa. To this union three children were born, Ashton, Mollie, and Connor. John and Shirley later divorced.

John worked for many years at Wes’ Family Café in Oskaloosa until it closed in 2006. Following his time at the café, John did concrete construction work. He traveled all over the country working for different contractors.

In 2018, he was engaged to his long-time girlfriend Brenda Estes while on the trip of a lifetime to Maui, Hawaii.

John enjoyed being a minimalist, he did not need a whole lot of “stuff” to make him happy. He enjoyed good music, playing video games, reading, writing, and lighthearted television. He was also an incredibly talented artist. Most of all he enjoyed being with his family.

His family includes his three children: Ashton Rauch, Mollie Rauch, and Connor Rauch all of Oskaloosa; his fiancée, Brenda Estes of Oskaloosa; three sisters: Jennifer Stoneberg (& David Leib) of Oskaloosa, Pamela (& Shane) Schroeder of Davenport, and Paula Bahena of Davenport; two brothers: Denny Seefieldt of Tucson, Arizona, and Gary (& Amanda) Misner of Davenport; his mother, Karen Seefieldt of Davenport; his father, David Rauch of Oskaloosa; a nephew, Joshua Stoneberg; nieces: Audrey Stoneberg, Vanessa, Jocelyn and Jasmine Leib; two stepdaughters: Candace (& Jacob) Turner and Mackenzie (& Keegan Gordin) Miller all of Oskaloosa; six step granddaughters: Kadence, Kameron, Kinze, Avery, Emory, and Quinnley; his in-laws, Merle Estes of Oskaloosa and Larry & Cathy Fenton of Eddyville; a close friend, Jared (& Kanya) Waggoner of Oskaloosa; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his birth parents; his grandparents; close friend, Joyce Waggoner; and a stepson, Shane Michael Craver.

As was John’s wish his body has been cremated and no services are planned. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
As a final act of generosity, he was registered with the Iowa Donor Network and his gift of life will go on to improve the lives of others.
