John Arthur Clouse, age 79, of Albia, passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2019, at his home in Albia, under the care of Care Initiatives Hospice, surrounded by his loved ones. John was born on January 30, 1940, at Copely Hospital in Aurora, IL, to Edwin Sr. and Edith (Terrell) Clouse.

The family moved to Albia where John attended grade school. They later moved to Whittier, CA, where John graduated from high school. After graduating, John returned to Albia.

On August 10, 1962, he was united in marriage to Nancy Lee Steffen at the Albia Christian Church. John and Nancy shared 57 years of marriage prior to his passing.

Upon returning to Albia, John worked at Hormel and later at Chamberlain Manufacturing before lastly working at Oskaloosa Manufacturing and Engineering.

He loved music and enjoyed collecting guitars and guitar picks. He was a very talented woodworker and made many music boxes for amps.

John is survived by his wife, Nancy Clouse of Albia; 3 sisters: Mary (& Ed) Datschefski, Barb Glasford, and Shirley Patrick; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents Edwin Sr. and Edith Clouse; a brother, Edwin Clouse Jr.; and a sister, Gerry Rockwell.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 26, 2019, at Hillcrest Cemetery in Moravia, with Pastor Dennis Douds officiating.
A procession will form at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia at 10:30 a.m. for those wishing to attend the graveside service.
