Jimmie Sellers, of Lexington, North Carolina and formerly of Oskaloosa passed away Saturday, January 23, 2021 at his son’s home in Lexington. Jimmie Leroy Sellers, son of Melvin Sellers and Letha Harvey Sellers, was born September 26, 1930 in Newton, Iowa.

Jimmie was raised in Delta, Iowa where he was a 1950 graduate of Delta High School.

Following his education, Jimmie was drafted into the United States Army. He was stationed in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Following his honorable discharge in 1952, Jimmie returned to Delta.

After returning home, Jimmie started working for John Morrell, a meat packing house in Ottumwa. He remained at Morrells for 20 years.

On July 15, 1972, Jimmie married Susie Hunt in Mystic, Iowa. They made their home in Oskaloosa and Jimmie went to work for Clow Valve Company in the machine shop. Jimmie worked for Clow for 23 years until his retirement in 1995.

Jimmie enjoyed woodworking, playing Bingo, and working in his yard. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. In 2016, Jimmie and Susie moved to Evans, Colorado to be closer to their children. After Susie’s death on May 22, 2017, Jimmie moved to North Carolina to be closer to his son.

Jimmie’s family includes: his daughter, Renee (& Rick) Higgins of Colorado Springs, CO; two sons: Randy Sellers of Colorado Springs, CO and Craig (& Nancy) Sellers of Lexington, NC; two step-sons: Scott (& Pam) Smallwood of Longmont, CO and Curt (& Janese) Smallwood of Phoenix, AZ; eleven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, Jimmie is preceded in death by his wife, Susie of over 44 years; a daughter, Sheryl Kester; six brothers: Donald, Raymond, Marvin, Robert, Chester, and Larry Sellers; and four sisters: Mildred Dannels, Viola Fowler, Ann Wever, and Dorothy Pugh.

As was his wish, Jimmie’s body has been cremated.
Burial of his ashes will be in Forest Cemetery at a later date. Langkamp Funeral Chapel & Crematory is handling the local arrangements.
