Jesus (Jesse) Quiroz, 53, of What Cheer died Monday, October 31, 2022 at the Keokuk County Health Center in Sigourney. Jesus Salvador Quiroz was born December 15, 1968 in Allende, Mexico, the son of Juan Quiroz and Teodora Enriquez.

At age three, Jesus and his family moved to the United States where they lived in West Liberty. Later in life, Jesse lived in Texas where he pursued his passion as a horse trainer. He eventually moved back to North English where he worked as a butcher for the local grocery store, Freeman Foods.

Jesse was united in marriage to Elizabeth Anne Banes on October 15, 2007.

Jesse had a fondness for animals his entire life. He enjoyed raising roosters, caring for horses, and always had a loyal friend (his dog). Jesse was an outstanding horseman and loved the time he spent rodeoing. Even though he was stubborn and very independent, Jesse was always very kind-hearted and found ways to help people in need.

Jesse is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Quiroz; two sons, Jesus Quiroz Jr. and Eli Quiroz; six daughters: Jessica Quiroz, Emilia Quiroz, Reanna Quiroz, Ariana Quiroz, Lola Quiroz, and Talia Quiroz; seven Grandchildren; a brother, Juan Quiroz; three sisters: J. Alicia Quiroz, Natividad Quiroz, and Sara Ramos; a step-father, Oscar Moncada.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Carlos Quiroz.

Burial will be held privately.
