Jessie A. Parker, 28, of rural Eddyville, died Monday, November 25, 2019, of injuries resulting from an automobile accident. He was born May 7, 1991, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the son of Clifford Van Zee and Darcey Parker.

Jessie graduated from Oskaloosa High School with the class of 2009. Following high school, he worked various jobs, typically as a machinist or painter in the factory.

Jessie lived to fish at the river, since he was 7 years old, he took every opportunity he could to fish at the Des Moines River. He loved to be outdoors and enjoying nature. Jessie loved to joke and laugh with his family and friends. He used his charisma and easy smile to warm up a room and make friends easily. He was a devoted father, friend and family member, always putting the needs of others first.

His family includes his two children: River Parker and Dalton Parker both of St. Francis, Kansas; his parents: Darcey Parker of Eddyville, and Clifford (& Patty) VanZee of Oskaloosa; a brother, Seth (& Brianne) Butler of Oskaloosa; two sisters: Ashely (& Ryan) Bunting of Lone Tree, and Kasey (& Cory) Halma of Snohomish, Washington; two nieces: Lili Butler and Luci Butler; four nephews: Logan Halter, Odin Bunting, Lance Halma, and Gavin Halma; his maternal grandmother, Connie Parker of Barnes City; girlfriend, Meagan Matthews of Eddyville; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Bill Butler; maternal grandfather, Lynn Parker; paternal grandparents, Raymond and Ruth Van Zee; and great grandparents, Donald and Eleanor Parker.

A memorial service will be held Friday, November 29, 2019, at 5 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Emma Rabideau officiating.
As was Jessie’s wish his body has been cremated. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation with the family will be at the Bates Funeral Chapel on Friday from 3 p.m. until service time at 5 to greet friends and relatives.
A memorial fund has been established for his children.
