Jerry Fenton, 68, of Beacon, died Friday, December 22, 2017, at the MHP Hospital while under Hospice care in Oskaloosa. He was born November 25, 1949, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the son of Edmund C. and Coretha E. Huffman Fenton.

Jerry graduated from Oskaloosa High School with the class of 1968. On June 22, 1968, he was united in marriage to Joy Taylor at the Open Bible Church in Oskaloosa.

Jerry went to work at Pella Rolscreen following graduation. He worked there for over 37 years and retired from Pella Corporation in 2005.

Jerry and Joy both had a love of bluegrass music. In retirement they toured around the Midwest and Jerry would run the soundboard for the bluegrass shows. In addition to enjoying bluegrass shows, Jerry loved to fish and camp. He especially enjoyed sharing his love of camping and fishing with his grandchildren. He was also an avid bowler, and scored a perfect game just a few years ago. Jerry delighted in being with his family and friends. He always had a joke to tell friends and strangers alike.

His family includes his wife Joy Fenton of Beacon; two children and their spouses: Lisa (& Keith) Rice of Freeport, Illinois, and Dean (& Amy) Fenton of Oskaloosa; twelve grandchildren and a grandson due in April; a sister, Mary (& Howard) Gay of Rose Hill; and many nieces and nephews.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Shirley (& Tom) Long; and 1 brother, Donaven (& Darlene) Fenton.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Reverend Michael Dotson officiating.
Burial will be in the Tioga Cemetery near Rose Hill, Iowa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will begin Tuesday after 10 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa and the family will be at the funeral chapel Tuesday evening from 5-7 to greet friends and relatives.
Memorials may be made to the Jerry Fenton Memorial Fund.
