Jehoshua “Jod” Dillinger, 73, of Oskaloosa, died Tuesday, August 27, 2019, at MHP Serenity Hospice House in Oskaloosa. He was born May 22, 1946, to Tilford H. and Opal D (Back) Mathre in Mason City, Iowa.

Jod attended the Mason City High School and graduated with the Class of 1964. After graduation he attended Northern Iowa Area Community College and later the University of Iowa and William Penn University.

In 1966, he joined the United States Marine Corps and served his country in Vietnam. He received many medals for his service and was honorably discharged in 1968.

After returning home from the war, he worked at the Armor Company Packing House during the summers. He also helped on his uncle’s farm. He later took a job at Winnebago working on the line for 9 months and held several other jobs in Garner, Iowa. Jod later worked at Front’s Seed Corn in Pella as an assistant manager for 9 months before moving to Oskaloosa and taking a job sacking seed corn for Pinky Randall.

Jod enjoyed reading, especially books on philosophy and Christian Books. He also enjoyed working on his home projects and being out and about visiting with friends. He was a member of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints.

Jod is survived by his sister, Julie Montgomery of Clear Lake, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 30, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa.
Burial will be in the Friends Cemetery in Oskaloosa, Iowa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 2:00 p.m. until service time at 3:00 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be present to greet friends and relatives.
