Janet Mussatti, 73, of Bessemer, Michigan passed away Sunday morning, September 17, 2017, at the Mahaska Health Partnership Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Janet Marie Mussatti, daughter of Leslie Edward and Pearl Marie (Hebert) Havenor, was born October 30, 1943, at Marenisco, Michigan.

Janet was a 1962 graduate of Roosevelt High School in Marenisco. Following high school she attended beauty school in Duluth, Minnesota and on a trip to visit her brother in Milwaukee, Janet met a friend of her brother, Robert Dwight Mussatti, who had recently been discharged from the service. A whirlwind romance ensued and she and Robert were married March 23, 1963.

In 1968, the family moved back to Bessemer, Michigan. Over the years, Janet worked a variety of jobs, but her primary focus was always her home and family.

Janet and Robert enjoyed camping and fishing at their cabin on the Black River in Bessemer Township.

Janet’s family includes her husband, Robert Mussatti of Bessemer, Michigan; her children: Tony Mussatti of Bessemer, Geno Mussatti of Bessemer, Heidi (& Michael) McKay of Oskaloosa, Iowa, and Craig (& Elizabeth) Mussatti of Fort Stewart in Savanah, Georgia; 13 grandchildren: Tony Michael Mussatti, Nathan Mussatti, Alex Mussatti, Kurt Mussatti, Robert Ikola, Matthew Mussatti, Tyler Mussatti, Brandon Mussatti, Jacob Mussatti, Roger Ikola III, Jared Jackson, Amanda Mussatti, and Nicholas Mussatti; a great-grandson, Carsoen Ikola; a sister, Sharon Kelley of Silver Bay, Minnesota; a brother, Russell (& Pam) Havenor of Ironwood, Michigan; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by two brothers: Charles and Leslie Havenor; and two sisters: Beverly Kaufman and Joyce Rosenau.

As was her wish, Janet’s body has been cremated. Final arrangements entrusted to Langkamp Funeral Chapel & Crematory and Lakeside Memorial Chapel.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 30, 2017, at Lakeside Memorial Chapel in Wakefield, MI with Rev. Raymond F. Moncher officiating; a luncheon will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial contributions to the Mahaska Health Partnership Hospice Serenity House, 1229 C Ave. East Oskaloosa, Iowa 52577.
