Eddyville, Iowa | Age 77

James “Jim” Frederick Whitehead, age 77, of Eddyville passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at his residence with his loving family by his side, under the care of Care Initiatives Hospice. He was born on March 18, 1942 to Elmo and Mary (Clark) Whitehead in New Sharon, IA.

Jim graduated from Fremont High School, class of 1960. He then enlisted with the United States Air Force.

Jim married Laura Hunter on December 8, 1982, and they were blessed with three children: Jennifer, Renee, and Michelle.

Jim worked construction in his younger years, and was a truck driver until his retirement.

Jim enjoyed fishing, listening to his rock and roll very loud, smoking his cigs, drinking with his buddies, shaving creme fights, and being ornery. He loved dogs, a good storm, cleaning his trucks, the American Flag, putting on his famous firework shows, and especially spending time with his family and playing with his grandchildren. Papa would take all the grandkids on their putt putt rides. Jim was nothing but an old antique.

Jim is survived by his wife, Laura of Eddyville; children: Jennifer (& Dave) Williams of Beacon, Renee (& Chris) Davis of Eddyville, and Michelle Garman of Eddyville; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; a sister, Dixie (& Dwayne) Poe of Oskaloosa; and special friends, Mike, Bruce, and Tony.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmo and Mary Clark; and beloved dog Kamirra.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August, 23, 2019 opening to the public at 2:00 p.m., and Jim’s family will be present to greet friends from 5-8 p.m., at the Eddyville Funeral Chapel. There will be a time of sharing at 7:00 p.m.
