James Dallas Hutton, 91, died Oct. 11, 2012, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center. He was born June 25th, 1921, in Martinsburg to Hugh and Maude (Davis) Hutton and attended Martinsburg High School. He married Georgana Shaw Dec. 28th, 1941, at Kahoka, Missouri. A United States Marine Corps veteran, he served as Master Sergeant in the Pacific Theater during the Second World War and reenlisted for the Korean War. He worked for G. W. Onthank and Ideal Ready Mix. His hobbies included sports, fishing, and golf.

He is survived by Georgana, his wife of over seventy years; his sister Mary K Perkins of Winston-Salem, NC; his son Stan (Frances) Hutton of San Francisco and daughter Argena (Michael) Cathey of Ottumwa; granddaughters Kristina (Charles) Miller of Ankeny, Joanna (Christopher) Fitch of Omaha, and Alice (Tristan) Sharp of Toronto; and great-grandchildren Benjamin and Lydia Miller and Madeline Fitch.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Hugh Stanley Hutton, and his grandson, Timothy Dallas Cathey.

The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Fremont Funeral Chapel. Visitation will begin Sunday after 12 noon in the Fremont Funeral Chapel and the family will be present at the funeral chapel from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday to greet friends and relatives. His ashes will be interred at Brooks Cemetery, Hedrick, at a later date. Memorial contributions to Hospice of Davis and Wapello Counties, P.O. Box 1150, Ottumwa, IA 52501.
