James “Jim” Russell, 48, of Forrest City, Arkansas and formerly of Oskaloosa and Pella, IA passed away of cancer Saturday, March 1, 2014, at the Family Medical Center in Butner, North Carolina.

James Allen Russell, son of Willard Eugene and Darlene (McCombs) Russell, was born September 30, 1965, in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Jim attended Oskaloosa High School and later earned his G.E.D.
Jim worked as a cook in numerous restaurants in Iowa and several other states.
Even though he worked as a cook, he still enjoyed cooking at home. He also enjoyed writing, music and taking nature walks with his children.
His family includes his daughters: BreAnna Russell of Pella, Iowa; and Sierra (Garret) Swank of Oceanside, CA; a son: Zachary Russell of Eddyville, Iowa; a grandson: Zachary Russell, Jr.; his mother and step-father: Darlene and Ken DeHaan of Pella, Iowa; his father and step-mother: Willard and Joyce Russell of Knoxville, Iowa; brothers: Mike (Nancy) Russell of Knoxville, Iowa; and Steve (Kristy) Russell of Oskaloosa, Iowa; his aunts: Norma Whitlatch of Oskaloosa, Iowa; Barb McClun of Newton, Iowa; and Diana Azlin of Albia, Iowa; and two uncles: Bill and Richard McCombs of Oskaloosa, Iowa.
Jim was preceded in death by his grandparents; a brother: David Russell; and an uncle: Donald McCombs.
Memorial services for Jim are pending at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel.
