Jack Asher, 78, of Knoxville, died Friday, February 26, 2021, at the University Park Nursing and Rehab. Center in Des Moines. He was born May 3, 1942, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the son of Charles and Fern Gorsuch Asher.

Jack graduated from Oskaloosa High School with the class of 1960.

On August 7, 1971, he was united in marriage to Connie Lobberect in Rock Island, Illinois.

Early on Jack went to work at Rolscreen (now Pella Corp.) in Pella for over 25 years. He then went to work at the Knoxville Convenience Store for over 20 year. Lastly, he worked at Wal-Mart in Pella until retiring.

He enjoyed watching NASCAR, cheering for the Chicago Bears, the Iowa Hawkeyes and bowling.

His family includes his wife of nearly 50 years, Connie Asher of Knoxville; his four sons: David (& Loretta) Asher of Bishopville, South Carolina, James (& Christy) Asher of Milton, Iowa, Ernie (& Tracy) Asher of Wilber, Nebraska and Michael Asher of Bonaparte, Iowa; a daughter, Lisa (& Shawn) Garrison of Knoxville, Iowa; a step-son, Steven Lobberecht of Kansas City, Missouri; two brothers, Bill Asher of Altoona, and Jerry Asher of Beacon. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents; a stepson, Timothy Lobberecht; a brother Dwight Asher; and two sisters-in-law, JoAnne Asher and Evelyn Asher.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in the Bates Funeral chapel in Oskaloosa with Minister Patrick Starr officiating.
Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
According to the rules put in place by the Iowa Department of Public Health, proper social distancing and reasonable personal protective equipment is advised for attending a religious public event.
The funeral will be posted to the Bates Funeral Chapel’s YouTube page for those unable to attend.
Visitation will begin Monday, March 1, 2021 beginning after 12 noon in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be at the funeral chapel from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday evening to greet friends and relatives.
Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or the American Heart Association.
