Ivan Ella “Ivy” McClurg, 92, passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at Republic, Missouri. She was born to Lester and Gladys (Williams) Morris on January 13, 1928 in Hannibal, Wisconsin. The family moved to Iowa in 1939 when she was 11 years old.
Ivy was united in marriage to John Junior McClurg on June 17, 1945. He preceded her in death in November of 2000.
Ivy and her husband farmed for more than 30 years in the Moulton and Exline vicinity. They sold their farm southeast of Exline in 1977 and moved to Centerville in 1978. They spent many happy years together. Ivy was an excellent seamstress in that she could cut her own patterns and sew anything she chose. She loved gardening and always had a green thumb, as well as being a great carpenter with her husband. It always brought her great joy to tell you about her four children and their families.
She is survived by four children: Sheryl (& Jack) Wagner of LeClaire, Iowa, Dennis (& Jeanie) McClurg of Centerville, Iowa, Nancy Wright of Republic, Missouri, and Mitsi (& Mike) Burnside of Oskaloosa, Iowa; grandchildren: Kelly Wagner, Amy Baum, Jason McClurg, Emily Jones, Shawn Wright, Shannon Wright, Jennifer Ver Meer, Casy Swank; nine great grandchildren; two brothers: Lyle (& Katie) Morris of Fresno, California and Marvin (& Shirley) Morris of Centerville, Iowa.
Ivy was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two brothers: Douglas Morris and Harvey “Bud” Morris; a sister: Ruby Murphy; and a son-in-law, Vaughn Wright.
Memorial Services will be held Wednesday, October 7, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Reverend Molly Goodrich officiating.
Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery in Centerville, Iowa. Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
According to the rules put in place by the Iowa Department of Public Health, proper social distancing and reasonable personal protective equipment is advised for attending a religious public event.
Ivy’s family requests everyone attending please wear a mask.
The funeral service will be live streamed at the funeral home’s YouTube Channel for those wishing to support the family from a distance.
Visitation with the family present will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m.
