Ironside Axe Club Welcomes Public to New Location in Penn Central Mall

Ironside Axe Throwing is coming to the Penn Central Mall.

Ironside Axe Club will be opening the doors to their Penn Central Mall location for the first time this coming Thursday, October 24thas part of the local retail group’s Brews and Broomsticks event.

Guests visiting Ironside on Thursday will have the opportunity to see the new space, sample No Coast beers, meet Ironside staff and try their hand at axe throwing.

The Ironside team believes this is the perfect opportunity to make their debut. “We were invited to be a part of this cool event with other mall merchants and thought it would be a great chance to open to the public. What better way to kick-off our new space than in a collaborative event with local businesses?” said Mark “Magnus” Judisch, co-owner of Ironside Axe Club.
According to the Ironside team, Axe throwing is as fun, safe and inclusive as bowling or playing darts. It’s an entertainment option that is growing in popularity, especially as a group activity.

Judisch and co-owners Scott and Lisa Gardner have practiced axe throwing for many years. Together with the club manager, they have a combined 105+ years of experience throwing axes.
Their first location in West Des Moines has been open for one year and recently hosted the World Axe Throwing League U.S. Open that was broadcasted nationally on ESPN.

At Ironside, groups of six or more can book a party where they will have a guaranteed two hours of throwing in a private lane with a coach dedicated to teaching the guests in the group. In those two hours, guests learn basic technique and safety, various games and eventually, some unique trick shots.

Guests who choose to walk-in can pay in increments of hour-long sessions where they enjoy throwing at their leisure after a brief introductory lesson.

Judisch and the Ironside team look forward to getting involved in the Oskaloosa community. “My role in this business is to get to know our community members and develop relationships that can create positive collaborations with other local businesses,” said Judisch. “In the end, that’s what it’s all about – working together to create fun experiences for the community.”
Ironside looks forward to also participating in the Oskaloosa Trick or Treat parade and opening their doors to any families who are interested in taking a look inside.

Community members will have yet another opportunity to visit Ironside on Saturday, November 2nd. Ironside will be partnering with Old School Pinball and Arcade, a retro arcade also located in Penn Central Mall to put on a Halloween celebration. Old School will be hosting their third “Vinyl Night” of the year in partnership with Muse Music while Ironside invites people to take a shot at axe throwing in their space across the hall.

Details for all these events will be shared on Facebook in the coming weeks. For general questions or group reservations, guests can visit ironsideaxeclub.com/Oskaloosa, or call (833) 476 – 6293.
