Iowa Poultry Association Announced Recipient of Hall of Fame Award

Urbandale, IA, September 3, 2019— Iowa Poultry Association (IPA) has announced the recipient of their Hall of Fame Award, ahead of the annual Fall Festival and Annual Meeting. The Hall of Fame award will be presented to Blair Van Zetten, of Oskaloosa Food Products in Oskaloosa, Iowa. The honoree will be awarded at the annual awards banquet of the 49th Annual Fall Festival and Annual Meeting, September 18th, 2019, at the Marriott in West Des Moines.

Blair Van Zetten, a lifelong resident of Oskaloosa, has been the owner of Oskaloosa Food Products after his father passed in 1980. His father John started the family business in 1938. Blair is a graduate of Upper Iowa University, and joined the family business after graduation.

Iowa Poultry Association Executive Director, Kevin Stiles said, “No one has been more actively involved in Iowa Poultry Association (IPA) and Iowa Egg Council (IEC) than Blair. Both have called upon him often, and he has represented egg and poultry farmers extremely well. He has demonstrated a passion for our industry and a willingness to step up and support the association and the egg community whenever asked.

Van Zetten serves on the Iowa Egg Council Board of Directors and currently serves as Treasurer. He is the past-chairman of the American Egg Board, and former Chairman (and currently Secretary) of the United Egg Association. He sits on the United Egg Producers Board of Directors and the Egg Industry Center Board of Directors, and also serves as treasurer for the US Farmers and Ranchers Alliance Board of Directors, not to mention numerous IPA and IEC Committees. He was also named Urner Barry Egg Person of the Year in 2016.

Van Zetten and his wife of 44 years, Wendy, are the proud parents of Jason, Brandon, and Travis, and grandparents to Aunya, Beahr and Driver. Their son Jason is also involved in the family business. Van Zetten has served as Past President of the Oskaloosa Chamber of Commerce, the Oskaloosa Community Development Board, the Forest Cemetery Board, is Past Chair of the Board of Directors for TruBank, is an elder in the First Presbyterian Church, and was named the Oskaloosa citizen of the year. In his spare time, Blair enjoys traveling, golf and wine.
