Iowa Hunter Education Classes to be held this fall in Mahaska County
Iowa Hunter Safety
This fall, there will be two opportunities in Mahaska County to take an Iowa Hunter Safety Class. Pre-registration is required for both classes and the registration is found online at www.iowadnr.gov/training. The courses are free of charge, but space is limited. Anyone born after January 1st, 1972 must attend a Hunter Education course before they are allowed to purchase an Iowa hunting license. Anyone who is 11 years and older is eligible to attend the classes. For more information, call the Mahaska County Conservation Board at (641)673-9327.
Hunter Education Class
Thursday, September 12 (5:30 pm – 9:30 pm)
and Saturday, September 14 (8:00 am – 4:00 pm)
Location: Conservation Center, Russell Wildlife Area
Participants must attend both days. Participants must also pick up a student manual from the conservation center at the Russell Wildlife Area and read and complete all the pages before the start of class. The Russell Wildlife Area is located four miles north of Oskaloosa on Hwy. 63 and one mile east on 200th Street. The conservation center is open 12:30-4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Online Hunter Education Field Day
Wednesday, December 4 (6:00 –9:30 p.m.)
Location: North Mahaska High School, New Sharon
Participants must pre-register and take the online course at www.iowadnr.gov/training prior to the start of the field day class. Please bring your printed online class voucher and a form of personal identification with you to the field day.
