Iowa defeats Cedar Rapids Titans 46-23

Des Moines, IA – The Iowa Barnstormers (3-2) bounced back this week with a 46-23 win over in-state rival Cedar Rapids Titans (0-5) Sunday afternoon at the Wells Fargo Arena.

In the first quarter, the Barnstormers jumped out to an early 7-0 lead when quarterback Travis Partridge scored on a short rushing touchdown. The Iowa defense started the game strong, stopping the Titan defense within the 15 yard line twice during the quarter.

The second quarter started off with the Iowa defensive lineman Ra’Shawde Myers sacking Cedar Rapids quarterback Brion Carnes in the end zone for a safety, giving the Barnstormers a 9-0 lead. Iowa later scored again with recently acquired running back Keshaudas Spence running in a three yard touchdown extending the lead, 16-0. Cedar Rapids answered back with Carnes finding receiver Tre’ Parmalee for a 31 yard score cutting the Iowa lead 16-6. Later in the quarter, Partridge found receiver Brady Roland for a four yard touchdown pass widening the lead 23-6. The Iowa defense picked up another safety ending with a first half score of 25-6.

The Iowa offense continued rolling in the second half when Partridge scored his second rushing touchdown of the night, 32-6. Cedar Rapids later picked up a field goal cutting the lead to 32-9. Iowa stuck to the ground game on their next two possessions with both Partridge and Spence scoring rushing touchdowns, 46-9. The Titans picked up two scores late in the 4th quarter when Carnes found receivers Damond Powell and Tony Grimes for short scores narrowing the Iowa lead. The Barnstormers win their first home game, 46-23.
