Oskaloosa, Iowa – The Oskaloosa community was shocked by the stabbing death of Marquis Todd last Thursday evening. Todd was a student at William Penn University and a member of the men’s basketball team.

Nearly a week after his death, the community has more questions than answers.

Iowa Department of Criminal Investigations spokesman Mitch Mortvedt said the investigation is waiting on the full autopsy results. “The medical examiner’s office usually wants to get the full gamut done. We want to make sure all the I’s are dotted, and the T’s are crossed, that’s for sure.”

Mortvedt said that “the guys were still interviewing some people yesterday, just trying to track down all the leads; all the false leads and all the accurate leads.”

Mortvedt explained that Mahaska County Attorney’s Office has requested the Iowa Attorney General’s Office “to also come in an assist with this.”

“So anything that we give will be turned over to the county attorney and the Attorney General’s Office,” said Mortvedt.

Todd’s Mother Michelle Turner was in Oskaloosa on Monday, where she spoke with investigators, and was looking for answers.

“At the end of the day, a young man lost his life, and we just want all the accurate information that we can get,” added Mortvedt.

No arrests have been made in the case as of March 7, 2018.
