Oskaloosa, Iowa – The Oskaloosa School Board met on Monday, June 22nd for their second of two scheduled monthly meetings.

The board approved the sale of Surplus Property. That surplus property is the old gymnasium floor that had been removed in 4 x4 foot squares, and 4×8 foot sections. The effort is to share a bit of history with those who might be interested in owning a portion of the old floor. The funds will also benefit the activities department at the school. We will have further details on how to obtain those sections near the end of the week.

The Board then looked at the renewal of its property and casualty insurance policy.

In prior years the school has used EMC Insurance, using Bob Walton as their representative for those needs. That changed on Monday when the board accepted a bid for coverage in the Public School Insurance Program. Walton was offered by the board to be their representative in that pool, but Walton expressed he wasn’t well informed on the pool, and only became aware of the program 3 days prior.

The new policy takes effect on July 1st, 2015.

The discussion was continued from the previous board meeting in regards to administrator pay, and contract. The board approved a 2 percent increase for administration. The board expressed a desire to see student performance be a factor in future raise.

Oskaloosa School Superintendent was retained by the district on a 6-0 vote by the board.
