Indoor T&F All-MCC Laurels Announced

Oskaloosa–A half dozen Statesmen track and field athletes were honored for their performances at the league championships as the indoor track and field all-Midwest Collegiate Conference honors were announced Monday.

All-MCC awards were given to all athletes who finished in the top three in individual events at the championships and in the top two in a relay event. Honorable-mention awards also went to any other athletes who met the NAIA’s qualifying standard who were not already named all-MCC in their event.

MCC Male Track Athlete of the Year Alex Edwards (Jr., Knoxville, Iowa, Secondary Education) highlighted WPU’s all-conference honorees, receiving awards in the 400-meter dash, 600-meter run, and 800-meter run. The junior won all three events.

Sam Taylor (Jr., Eddyville, Iowa, Industrial Technology) was also a multiple recipient in the 60-meter hurdles (1st), long jump (1st), and high jump (3rd).

Shot putter Kalob Gist (So., Oskaloosa, Iowa, Business Management) and triple jumper Chris Gossett (Fr., Park Forest, Ill., Mechanical Engineering) were honored as well for placing second in their respective events.

On the women’s side, Meaghan Foster (So., Centerville, Iowa, Undecided) was second in the shot put and Raveen Rhone (Jr., Los Angeles, Calif., Biology) was third in the triple jump to claim all-league recognition.
