Indians XC Compete At State

by Mike Comfort

Sage concluded her career with a 98th place finish in a time of 21:26. I thought Sage battled really well and ran hard. Running at state for the first time is really tough as it is a completely new environment to run in and I thought she handled that well. It was such an honor for her to qualify this year and I am proud of how she finished her career.

Patrick concluded his 3rd career state meet with a 16th place finish (16:36). He has steadily improved throughout his career as he was 96th as a sophomore and 37th as a junior. Patrick ran a really gutsy race and had one of the best last 800s of a race that he has ever had. Unfortunately, he was out leaned at the line and missed being an All-State runner by 0.36 seconds (top 15 is all state). I’m proud of him because he gave it his absolute best and he has nothing to be ashamed about.

These two had incredible cross country careers. The end of today’s meet brought me great sadness knowing that I will never be able to coach them again. Both made me a better coach. I wish them the best of luck on their futures.
