Indians Volleyball Season Comes To An End

The Oskaloosa Indians Volleyball Team saw their season come to an end on Wednesday against Carlisle.

Oskaloosa saw an impressive Volleyball season end Wednesday night when they fell 3-2 to Carlisle in the Class 4A Regional Tournament.

Oskaloosa won an intense first set 28-26 for the early advantage. The Wildcats dominated the second set, winning 25-16. Osky took set three 25-19 but were unable to seal the deal as Carlisle took the fourth and fifth sets 25-22 and 15-11, ending the Indians season at 18-12 overall.

Sophomore Faith DeRonde had her best night of the year with 28 kills, 18 digs, and two blocks. Mary Nelson also had a career night with six blocks. Taylor Wills had ten kills, 12 digs and an ace serve, Jessica Schlesselman added five kills and two blocks. Olivia Gordon had 28 assists, and Jolie Yang had 14.

Carlisle’s Meredith Hoffman also put on an offensive show with 36 kills.

Oskaloosa enjoyed one of their best seasons in years, earning a share of the Little Hawkeye Conference championship for the first time since 2012 and a third-place finish in the LHC tournament. The girls also accomplished wins over ranked DCG and Norwalk teams. They lose seven Seniors, including Meghan Moorman, Emily Richmond, Riz Alesna. Jolie Yang, Taylor Wills, Mary Nelson, and Jessica Schlesselman.
