Indians Versus Trojans Game Notes – Week 3

by Jamie Brockman

After a hurtful 62-12 loss at Washington last week, the Oskaloosa Football team is ready to rebound tonight when they travel to Fairfield.

Fairfield is 0-2 and has a struggling offense, but we’ll dig into that more in a bit. Let’s talk Oskaloosa first. No one was happy with their performances last week. They spent two hours in film sessions the next day on Saturday and Coaches tell me the players were bought in and very attentive and committed to fixing our mistakes. In my regular Thursday discussion with Head Coach Jake Jenkins, he said things are changing…they have to. He said a big concern was the lack of talking and communication on the field on defense, and they worked hard on developing a new system that will force each player to talk and communicate signals. To each other. He also stated that it’s time to step up or it’s next man in mentality at this point. Other notable changes fans will see this week is Colton Butler and Kenny Settimmi will each play just one way now to stay fresh rather than both offense and defense. As of Thursday afternoon, Jenkins was expecting to see the return of Senior, Aaron Blom to the field. He has a heavily taped ankle but has been practicing. I expect him to have a huge impact on our defense. As far as kicking, Jenkins said they’re not sure yet on that part for Blom.

Now, as far as Fairfield, they’re 0-2 and struggle to score. Their quarterback has thrown seven interceptions compared to two touchdowns and their ground game struggles. That being said, Oskaloosa will be favored, and this is a game they should win. In fact, I look for a hungry Osky team tonight, a quick start and I expect to be yelling “Touchhhhhhhhhdown Indians” a lot tonight.

So those are some things to note and watch for tonight as Oskaloosa plays at Fairfield. You can watch the game live from Fairfield on any of our partner’s web pages, or lit will also be shown live on MCG Channel 7. Pre Game 7 pm Kickoff 7:30 pm
