Indians Softball Over Pella Christian
Faith DeRonde and Shannon Van Rheenen delivered at the plate and on the mound in a sweep of Pella Christian Friday night at Jay Harms Field. DeRonde started game 1 for the Indians and won her fourth game of the season giving up 1 run on 5 hits. She walked 1 batter while striking out 5 in the 12-1 five inning win. At the plate, DeRonde helped her own cause by belting 2 home runs, one being a grand slam in the 3rd inning. She knocked in 5 runs on the night. Presley Blommers went 3-3 in game 1 and Alexis Price chipped in with 2 hits, while driving in 4 runs. In game 2, Van Rheenen pitched a 3 hitter allowing only 1 walk, while striking out 3 Pella Chrisitian batters in the 4-0 win. She also helped her own cause by rapping out a big 2 out 2 rbi single in the 4th inning to put the Indians up 3-0. Osky would score another run in the 5th to pad the lead to 4-0. Van Rheenen would allow only 1 more Pelaa Christian hit for the game as she evened her record out to 3-3 on the season. Aunrey Boender was also big in game 2 by knocking in 2 runs on 2 hits. With the sweep, the Indians evened their overall record to 7-7 on the season. The Indians now sit in 4th place in the Little Hawkeye Conference with a 5-3 record.
