Indians Snap 7 Game Losing Streak

The Oskaloosa Softball team snapped a 7 game losing streak with an 11-4 win at Pella Christian Monday night. The Indians scored at least 1 run in 5 of the 7 innings and each starter had at least 1 hit on the night. The ball was jumping all over the place as the two teams combined for 24 hits which included 4 homeruns. The Indians got on the scoreboard first as they rapped out 5 hits in the top of the 1st inning, with the big blow being Olivia Gordon’s 3 run homer. Pella Christian responded with a homerun in the bottom of the 1st by their leadoff hitter. PC would cut the deficit to 3-2 scoring 1 run on 1 hit in the bottom of the 3rd inning. The Indians would blow the game open in the 4th inning scoring 5 runs on 5 hits. Lydia Van Veldhuizen’s 2 run homer with no out got the Indians going and 3 more runs would score on 2 PC errors and Olivia Gordon’s rbi single in the inning. The Indians would tack on a single run in the 5th, ,6th and 7th innings. Shannon Van Rheenen’s rbi single drove in the run in the 5th, Alexis Price drove in another run in the 6th inning, and Van Rheenen picked up another RBI in the 7th on infield out. PC would score two runs in the 7th inning on 3 hits before Presley Blommers struck out the #5 hitter to end the game and give the Indians a sweep over the Eagles this season.
