Indians Blank Trojans In Tama

Oskaloosa Indians

The Indians traveled to Tama last night to take on the Trojans. It was a beautiful night for soccer and the girls didn’t disappoint in coming away with a convincing 4-0 win. The team took a little while to get warmed up and about half way through the 1st half really started moving and possessing the ball around the field. Leah VanMaanen got the Indians on the board with 5 minutes left in the half. It was only 2 minutes later that Emily Lunsford would put away a corner from VanMaanen to take the lead 2-0 into half.

The second half would see much of the same with several opportunities for the Indians. Lunsford and VanMaanen would once again link up as Lunsford put away a cross from VanMaanen just 4 minutes into the 2nd half. With just under 15 minutes to play, VanMaanen would finish up the scoring taking the ball herself for a 30 yard shot.

“We were really happy to come in a get the win. We still are missing several players because of injuries and the other girls have stepped up and filled those positions without complaint. It was a fun game to watch from the sideline and see the girls just have fun and play soccer.”

The girls have the weekend to recover to prepare for a busy week starting on Monday with #6th ranked Norwalk at Norwalk starting at 5:30.
