Indian Hills Community College Students Participate in Community Service with Tenco

Students from Indian Hills Community College decided to give back to their community as their fall project. The students in Wapello Hall joined Tenco staff members on November 9 to do some needed yard work at one of Tenco’s residential homes.

The nine students raked leaves, trimmed bushes, and cleaned up the yard. Students were from all over the world including Sri Lanka. Students participating included: John Simmons, Chantele Guido, Shaigan Marten, Bhagya Godakanda, Jessica Allen, Kyle Ryun, Jacob Wilson, and Jake Spunagle. They were led by Shaela Hayden.
Tenco is a non-profit local corporation currently serving more than 300 people with disabilities.  Founded in 1965, Tenco is celebrating over 50 years of service to the people of southern Iowa and throughout our state.  To carry out its good work, Tenco has vocational centers in Ottumwa, Centerville, and Fairfield and also provides residential services in Van Buren, Marion, Appanoose, Mahaska, Wapello, Lucas, and Jefferson Counties.
