Hy-Vee Offers Financial Support for Proposed Indian Hills Community College Campus Renovations

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa (November 1, 2021) — Hy-Vee, Inc. today announces its intention to pledge $500,000 to help fund the proposed enhancements to Indian Hills Community College campuses in Ottumwa and Centerville, upon successful passage of the bond referendum vote. Hy-Vee has been a proud partner of Indian Hills Community College for several years.

As one of the largest employers in southeastern Iowa, Hy-Vee recognizes how educational facilities like Indian Hills play a crucial role in both training and continued economic development. Indian Hills Community College gives Hy-Vee employees the opportunity to attend training, take classes and advance their careers while staying close to home. Hy-Vee also provides many Indian Hills students with job opportunities while they complete college courses.

Indian Hills has allowed Hy-Vee employees to receive CDL training and take leadership and management courses as well as English language learning courses and workplace Spanish courses to help all Hy-Vee employees communicate better.

According to Indian Hills Community College information, 86% of their graduates stay in the 10-county region covered by Indian Hills’ campuses. As Hy-Vee continues to grow, it is important that its local workforce continues to grow as well.
