Huff Wins First Heart Pitcher of the Week Honor

Oskaloosa–Chelsey Huff (Sr., Douds, Iowa, Exercise Science) kept opposing hitters guessing all weekend and her work was rewarded as she was named Heart of America Athletic Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week Monday.

The senior, who now has two weekly awards in her career (other award was for Player, back in 2023), earned her laurel after two outstanding performances at the Dordt Dome Tournament.

Huff opened her final collegiate campaign by going the distance in an extra-inning matchup win over Morningside last Friday. In eight innings in the circle, she allowed four runs on eight hits, while striking out 11 and walking five.

The following day, the right-hander strung together another noteworthy 4 2/3 frames in a victory against Dordt. The outing saw her permit only one run on four hits. She again reached double figures in strikeouts with 10, while permitting three walks.

For the year, Huff is 2-0 with a 2.76 Earned Run Average in 12 2/3 innings. She has 21 strikeouts against eight walks. Of the 12 hits she has allowed, only two have been for extra bases.

It is the first week of the year for the Heart’s weekly softball honors.
