Hog Building Fire Remains Under Investigation

Fire crews from three departments worked four hours to extinguish this fire at a hog building near New Sharon.

New Sharon, Iowa – On October 17th, 2019, at 12:30 am, the New Sharon Fire Department was requested for a structure fire in the 2300 block of 135 Street. The structure involved was a hog building. Crews were able to extinguish the fire within four hours from the time of call. New Sharon Fire Department was assisted by Oskaloosa Fire Department, Barnes City Fire Department, Mahaska County Sheriff’s Office, and the Mahaska County Communications Center. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
