Heckenberg, Finley Garner Scholar-Athlete Accolades

Oskaloosa–Jonah Heckenberg (Sr., Stockport, Iowa, Business Management) and Max Finley (So., Richville, N.Y., Computer Science) were honored for their excellence in the classroom as they were named 2023 NAIA Men’s Cross Country Scholar-Athletes Thursday.

Heckenberg owns a 4.0 Grade Point Average, while Finley has a 3.81 GPA. Heckenberg’s award is the third of his career, while Finley is a first-time honoree.

A total of 491 men’s cross country runners from within the NAIA were awarded the laurel.

To be eligible for the award, athletes must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale, have attended the nominating institution for one full year prior to nomination, and must appear on the sport’s eligibility paperwork.
