This week, Helena Hayes announced her candidacy for re-election to the Iowa House, representing House District 88 which includes most of Mahaska County, all of Keokuk County and the northern half of Jefferson County.

Hayes, a Republican from New Sharon, said she is “committed to addressing pressing issues that affect her district and all of Iowa,” and pledged to build on what she said was the progress made in 2023 during the first year of a two-year term.

She said her re-election campaign for the Nov. 5 general election will focus on priorities “including eminent domain reform, protecting Iowans from government overreach, defending the rights and well-being of the unborn, rejecting divisive and obscene ideologies, and promoting further conversation and policies that strengthen families.”

“I am honored to have served the people of District 88 in the Iowa House,” said Hayes. “While we have accomplished much, there is still important work ahead. I am committed to advancing the fight for our values and our communities. I humbly ask for your support as we embark on this journey together.”
