Hawkins claims American Rivers Conference male athlete of the week accolades
PELLA— A record-setting day for Central College football quarterback Blaine Hawkins (sophomore, Ankeny) earned him the American Rivers Conference male athlete of the week recognition.
He was also named the league’s football offensive player of the week.
Through the air, Hawkins was 13-of-15 for 349 yards and five touchdowns. His five touchdown tosses were all at least 33 yards long, including two over 50 yards. He set a new program record for completion percentage (86.6%). The five touchdowns in a single game tied a school he already partially held. It was the second most passing yards in a game by a Central quarterback.
The Dutch (3-0, 1-0 conference) are at the University of Dubuque (2-1, 1-0 conference) on Saturday for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
