GRINNELL’S EMILIO GOMEZ IS NAMED MWC MEN’S TENNIS PERFORMER OF THE WEEK

GRINNELL, Iowa – Grinnell College’s Emilio Gomez ’15 has been named the Midwest Conference Men’s Tennis Performer of the Week.

Gomez, of Las Vegas, N.M. (Robertson), dropped just one game in three matches while helping Grinnell to a pair of easy victories Saturday.

In a 7-2 victory over Augustana College, Gomez swept his opponent at No. 2 singles by a 6-0, 6-0 score and teamed with Elliott Czarnecki ’15 to win 8-1 at No. 1 doubles. He moved up to No. 1 singles in a 9-0 victory over Nebraska Wesleyan University and again posted a 6-0, 6-0 sweep.

Gomez is now 8-5 in singles and a combined 13-4 in doubles for the Pioneers, who are ranked 14th in the Central Region and own a 14-4 record.
