GRINNELL, Iowa – Grinnell College pitcher Brock Weirather ’21 has earned a repeat spot on the All-Midwest Conference Baseball South Division First Team for 2019.

Weirather, from Polk City, Fla. (All Saints Academy), was the MWC South Division Newcomer of the Year last season and picked up where he left off this season. He led all MWC pitchers in league competition in pickoffs with three and strikeouts looking with 13. Weirather ranked third in both strikeouts and innings pitched with 31 apiece, and was ninth in ERA at 2.61.

He struck out 14 batters against Cornell College this season, fifth best in program history. Weirather currently is Grinnell’s career leader for fewest walks per nine innings with 1.27 and ranks ninth in ERA at 3.47.

MWC South champ Monmouth College had the Pitcher and Coach of the Year in Tyler McDonald and Alan Betourne, respectively. Caleb Wichman of Cornell College was named South Player of the Year and Knox College’s EJ Roncone the Newcomer of the Year.
