Grinnell Women’s Soccer Shuts Out Knox, 2-0
Grinnell, IA — In a commanding performance at home on October 2, 2024, the Grinnell College women’s soccer team secured a 2-0 victory over Knox College. The win improves Grinnell’s record to 4-3-1 overall and 1-1 in Midwest Conference play, while Knox falls to 1-8-0 and 0-1 in conference.
The Pioneers dominated possession throughout the game, maintaining 56% of the ball and consistently pressuring the Knox defense. Grinnell registered 15 total shots, with six on target, compared to Knox’s three shots, only one of which was on frame.
Grinnell opened the scoring early, with Rama Joshi netting her first goal of the season in the 15th minute off an assist from Campbell Swaim. The Pioneers added a second goal shortly after halftime, with Maya Mozena finding the back of the net in the 52nd minute, assisted by Ramona Delborne.
Grinnell’s defense stood strong, limiting Knox to just three shots, and goalkeeper Peyton Dixon recorded a clean sheet, only needing to make one save. Knox goalkeeper Darby Wallig was far busier, making four saves but unable to stop the relentless Grinnell attack.
Despite the loss, Knox showed determination, with Aleene Ramirez taking two of their three shots. However, they struggled to break down Grinnell’s organized defense and were unable to generate a corner kick throughout the match.
