Grinnell Dominates Beloit in Straight Sets Victory

Grinnell, IA – The Grinnell Pioneers women’s volleyball team put on a dominant performance on October 1, 2024, sweeping Beloit College in three sets (25-11, 25-20, 25-21) at Darby Gym. Grinnell (13-5, 1-0) controlled the match from start to finish, using strong offense and solid defense to secure their first conference win of the season.

Grinnell’s attack was led by standout performances from Keira Sullivan and Millie Leonard. Sullivan posted an impressive .345 hitting percentage with 13 kills, while Leonard added 12 kills and a .500 hitting percentage. Jenna Keller contributed across the board, registering six kills and adding solid defense with four block assists.

The Pioneers also displayed effective serving, tallying six service aces as a team. Sophie Weber and Gracie Lim led the effort at the service line, keeping Beloit off balance throughout the match. On defense, Kylie Snell and Hayley Taka were key contributors with strong blocking efforts and digs, helping to stifle Beloit’s attack.

Beloit (1-12, 0-1) struggled to find their rhythm, with no player recording more than four kills. McKayla Simao and Camille Ledoux provided brief sparks, but the Buccaneers were unable to overcome Grinnell’s strong play at the net and consistent pressure.

Grinnell came out strong in the first set, taking a commanding 25-11 win. Beloit tightened up in the second and third sets but could not overcome Grinnell’s balanced attack and steady play.

The victory marked a strong start to conference play for the Pioneers, who will look to build on their momentum as they continue their season.
