Fremont. Geraldine “Gerry” Berniece Marlin, 87, of Fremont died Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at the Mahaska Health Partnership in Oskaloosa. She was born Monday, October 12, 1925 in Tracey, Iowa, the daughter of William Worth “W.W.” and Emma Irene Dunsmoore McCarty. She graduated from Albia High School and A.I.B. in Des Moines and received an associate’s degree in business. On September 6, 1945, Gerry was united in marriage to Ernest A. Marlin in Indianola and he died July 10, 1996. Gerry worked at various businesses including John Morrell, and retired in the 1970’s. Gerry enjoyed crossword puzzles and was a member of the Fremont United Methodist Church, U.M.W., the 60+ Club and numerous other church activities. Gerry cherished her family and her grandchildren were the center of her life.

Her family includes a son: Max (& Pauletta) Marlin of Fremont; two daughters: Connie (& Larry) McCurdy of Fremont and Judy (& Larry) Lee of Mason City; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; two sisters: Jean Chaney of Kirksville, Missouri and Jo (& Don) Rainer of Oskaloosa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a daughter in infancy: Jacquelyn Marlin; a great grandson: Nicholas Lee; a brother: Cloyd Marlin McCarty; and a sister: Imogene Graham- Barnhart.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. at the Fremont United Methodist Church in Fremont with Reverend Ronald Bupp officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Township Memorial Cemetery South of Fremont. Visitation will be Friday from 11 A.M. until 3 P.M. at the Fremont Funeral Chapel and will begin again after 4 P.M. at the Fremont United Methodist Church with the family present at the church from 5 – 7 P.M. to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to the Fremont United Methodist Church.
