Gehring Earns First POW Honor

Oskaloosa–Nathan Gehring (Jr., Waukee, Iowa) was a double-double machine last week and his efforts helped him collect Heart of America Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week honors Monday.

Gehring picked up his first career award after guiding the Statesmen (8-1, 2-1 Heart) to a pair of wins.

The junior averaged 16.7 points and 7.7 rebounds, while shooting 75.0% from the field. His week started a bit slow as he tallied just 10 points (5-for-6 shooting) and three rebounds.

Gehring picked up his game over the weekend, producing the first of two double-doubles against Missouri Valley as he managed 15 points and 10 rebounds. He then concluded his week with a 25-point, 10-rebound showing against Great Lakes Christian. The double-doubles give him three for the season.

On the year, the junior is averaging 13.0 points and 6.6 rebounds, while shooting 66.2% overall. He has also compiled nine blocks, nine assists, and six steals.

The award is the first of the year for WPU this year.
