Garth Willhour, 94 of What Cheer, Iowa passed away on Monday, April 1, 2024 at the Serenity House in Oskaloosa. Garth Eugene Willhour was born November 21, 1929 at Forest City, Iowa to Arthur and Lois Steiff Willhour.

Garth was a 1947 graduate of What Cheer South High School.

Garth enlisted in the United States Army in 1951 serving as a heavy equipment operator during the Korean Conflict.

While still in the military, Garth returned home and was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Caswell on April 16, 1952 in What Cheer.

After his honorable discharge in 1953, Garth returned home where he continued farming on the family farm near What Cheer. He also worked as a heavy equipment operator traveling all over the United States until his retirement.

Garth enjoyed spending time with his family, boating, hunting, Nascar racing, basketball and football. Garth had a very strong work ethic and always looked forward to vacations with his family. He was a generous, fun-loving person who enjoyed helping others. Garth was also a true gentleman that took pride in representing his wife and family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Lois Willhour; his wife, Patricia Willhour; an infant daughter, Ann Marie Willhour; his brother, Lee Willhour; and his sister, Helen Van Ooyen.

Garth is survived by his son, Michael (Sherry) Willhour; a nephew, Kevin Willhour; three nieces, Susan (Gary) Hilburt, Lois Willhour and Lynn Jensen.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa beginning at 10:00 am.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday, April 5 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in What Cheer.
Memorials may be directed to the Serenity House in Oskaloosa.
