Fred E. Williams, 70, of Tracy, died Friday, March 28, 2014, at the MHP Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa. He was born January 25, 1944, at Beacon, Iowa, the son of Fred and Mildred G. Phipps Williams.

Fred graduated from Oskaloosa High School with the class of 1962. He served in the United States Army from 1965-1967. On July 12, 1969, he was united in marriage to Judy Renard in Oskaloosa.

Fred worked for various places throughout his life. He worked for over 20 years at Century Homes in Oskaloosa, retiring from there in 2007. He enjoyed gardening, going to the races, collecting marbles, playing pool and playing cards. He delighted in spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

His family includes his wife of over 44 years, Judy Williams of Tracy; a son and his wife: Brandon and Audra Williams of Oskaloosa; two grandchildren: Maddie and Kyle Williams; four step grandchildren: Brian, Bryce, Brock and Bradley; four brothers: Raymond Williams of Delta, Mike (Pat) Williams of Thornburg, Lyle (Melinda) Williams of Oskaloosa, and Bill Williams of Beacon; five sisters: Shirley Hunt of Des Moines, Bonnie (Clarence) Beck of Florida, Kay (Bob) Avila of Omaha, Nebraska, Christine Hileman of Gretna, Nebraska, and Barbara Dekker of Montana; many nieces and nephews; and a very close friend, Jim “Redman” Sparks of rural Oskaloosa.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation with the family present will be held Tuesday, April 1, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. in the Bates Funeral chapel in Oskaloosa. Open visitation will begin on Tuesday morning after 10 a.m. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
As was Fred’s wish his body will be cremated following the visitation.
Memorials may be made to the MHP Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa.
