Frank Thomas, 64, of Beacon passed away Wednesday morning, March 12, 2014, at Crystal Heights Care Center in Oskaloosa.

Frankie Steven Thomas, son of Harold and Effie (Hols) Thomas, was born November 13, 1949 at the home of his parents in Beacon, Iowa. He attended school in Beacon and high school in Oskaloosa.

Frank worked at Vermeer Manufacturing for 30 years, with his final job being a plasma cutter when he retired in 1998.

Frank was a member of the First Assembly of God in Oskaloosa and the Central Iowa Outdoors Without Boundaries Club. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing and biking. He was an avid Hawkeye fan. Frank also enjoyed giving everyone he knew a nickname.

His family includes his children: Shonda (Brian) Endrizal of Indianola, Kendra (Jason) Messamaker of Albia, Nathan (Tish) Thomas of Centerville and Travis (Ashley) Myers of Eddyville; nine grandchildren: Dominic, Lauren, and Zachary Endrizal, Bailey, Brayden and Breanna Messamaker, and Audrey, Travis and Taylor Lucket; sisters: Mary Lou Evans of Beacon and Sadie (Ken) Kennedy also of Beacon; brothers: Jerry (Diane) Thomas of Beacon, Tom Thomas of Ottumwa, and David (Marilyn) Thomas of Oskaloosa.

In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by a brother, Dick Thomas and two sisters: JoAnn “Red” Miller and Maxine Brown.

Funeral services for Frank will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday morning, March 15, 2014, at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel with Reverend Harold Schutte officiating.
Burial will be in Beacon Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m., Friday at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel; the family will greet visitors from 5-7 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the Central Iowa Outdoors Without Boundaries Club.
