First Honor for Madueno

Oskaloosa–Abel Madueno (Jr., San Bernardino, Calif., Business Management) shut down a powerful offense, and for his efforts he was named Heart of America Athletic Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week Monday.

Madueno won his first career award after helping William Penn to an 8-1 win over Central Methodist last Saturday.

In the win, the junior worked 6 2/3 innings and allowed just one run (earned) on three hits. He struck out 12 Eagles against three walks.

For the year, Madueno owns a 4-0 record with a 2.30 Earned Run Average. In 31 1/3 innings this season, he has recorded two complete games and one shutout, and has struck out 40 batters (11 walks). Opponents are hitting just .229 against him.

The award is the first for WPU this year.
