Finis E. Wilcox, 86, of Tracy, Iowa, went to be with his Lord on Friday, July 9, 2021, at his home in Tracy while under the care of Everystep Hospice. He was born to Elmer and Goldie (Meeks) Wilcox in Macon, Missouri on Thursday, July 18, 1934.

Later they moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa where Finis attended Roosevelt School.

Finis entered the US Navy and served aboard the USS Hamul during the Korean War as a boiler operator (BT3). He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, The United Nations Service Medal and the Korean Service Medal.

Following his discharge, Finis married Elizabeth June Inge on November 11, 1955, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Four children were born to this union, Carol, Judy, Vickie and David. They were married for 65 years.

Finis was employed by Penick and Ford (Penford Corporation) in Cedar Rapids, retiring in 1997, moving to Tracy, Iowa for their retirement years. Many wonderful memories have been created over the years during family activities at their acreage.

Finis enjoyed hunting, fishing, attending ball games, horses and spending time with his family. He played slow pitch softball for several years with Penick and Ford and with the church team at First Assembly of God in Oskaloosa, Iowa. He was famous for his deer chili and loved to give away his deer sticks. He was one of the early attenders at the Iowa Sportsmen’s Camp becoming a bit of a celebrity! He especially enjoyed sharing his love for hunting by helping young men learn to shoot and hunt.

Finis and June were active members of Central Assembly of God in Cedar Rapids and when they retired, joined First Assembly of God in Oskaloosa. Here, they particularly enjoyed participation in the OK Bunch and Wednesday Bible Study, Pastor Mike and Mary Dotson have been a great blessing to them in Finis’ closing days.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth June; children: Carol (& Gary) Pilcher, Judy Juhl, Vickie (& Ron) Dales, David (& Linda) Wilcox; grandchildren: Crystal, Charmayne, Zachary, Tiffani, Travis, Caleb, Jacob and Andrew; and great grandchildren: Simeon, Jaren, Kastor, Avory, Hudson, Aurora and Jotham; his sister, Ailene Roberts of Georgia; and many nieces and nephews.

Finis was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: George, Clifford and Charles; his sisters: Helen, Minnie and Betty; and by one grandson, Gary Joshua Pilcher.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, July 14, 2021, in the Assembly of God church with Reverend Mike Dotson and Pastor Gary Pilcher officiating.
Burial will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, Iowa at 2:30 pm.
Graveside Military Rites will be performed. Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, at 5:00 pm in the Bates Funeral Chapel with the family present to greet relatives and friends.
Memorials may be made to the family.
