EMPHASIS ON FAN AMENITIES WILL HIGHLIGHT THE NEWTON TRACK’S FINAL RACE WEEKEND OF 2012

(NEWTON, Iowa – August 30, 2012) Iowa Speedway officials announced that the final race weekend of the 2012 season, Friday and Saturday, September 14-15, will have a ‘Fan Appreciation’ theme, offering race goers a rare glimpse ‘behind the scenes’ at a major motorsports event, among several new fan attractions.

“We want to thank our loyal fans for their support during our very successful 2012 racing season,” said Iowa Speedway Chief Executive Officer Doug Fritz. “If it weren’t for the fans, we couldn’t present great shows like the ones we have on tap for our final race weekend.”

Special fan amenities, including access to the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Driver’s Meeting, conducted under the north grandstands on Saturday afternoon, and a random draw to send ten fans at each event to Victory Lane, and additional groups of ten on special garage tours, as well as ‘meet and greets’ with NASCAR and ASA officials – including NASCAR Truck Series Director Wayne Auton and ASA President Dennis Huth – will highlight the ‘Fan Appreciation’ weekend theme.

“Everyone with the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series appreciates our fans, and the fans here in Iowa are among the most enthusiastic we see all season long,” Auton commented. “Whatever we can do to enhance the fan experience, we’ll do, and we look forward to another great show for the fans at Iowa Speedway.”

In addition to all of the hoopla surrounding the 200-lap Camping World Truck Series show, NASCAR stars Steve Wallace and Johnny Sauter have entered the 150-lap ASA Midwest Tour super late model race on Friday night, September 14, and newly elected NASCAR Hall-of-Famer Rusty Wallace will be on hand on Saturday, September 15 to greet fans and sign autographs.

Two concerts – post-race on Friday evening with Iowa rockers ‘Wikid Likir’, and pre-race on Saturday afternoon with the legendary country music band ‘The Lost Trailers’ – are also designed to enhance the overall fan experience. In addition, a special ‘Pigskin Pub’ tent will be set up near the concert stage, with big screen televisions to view the Iowa-Northern Iowa and Iowa State-Western Illinois games on Saturday afternoon and evening,

“The NASCAR Truck Series and ASA super late models are a powerhouse line-up of racing entertainment,” Fritz noted. “Coupled with all the other amenities and activities we have in store for the fans on September 14 and 15, this will be one memorable weekend.”

Tickets for the ‘Iowa 150’ ASA Midwest Tour super late model event on Friday, September 14, and the ‘American Ethanol 200 presented by Hy-Vee’ NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race on Saturday, September 15 start at $20 per day, and are available online at www.iowaspeedway.com, or by calling 1-866-RUSTY-GO (787-8946).
