MAHASKA COUNTY – To prepare for the upcoming Integration with Mahaska Health Partnership on Monday, July 1, Family Medical Center offices will close at 11:00 am on Friday, June 28.

FMC will also be closed all day Saturday, and will reopen on July 1 as part of Mahaska Health Partnership. MHP’s Walk-In Clinic, located on the Lower Level (entrance #4) on the MHP campus, will be open on Saturday from 8:30 to 11:30 am for patients of all ages.

According to MHP CEO Jay Christensen, this is an exciting time for Mahaska County and the surrounding communities served by MHP. “Our merger will mean easier access to primary healthcare and stronger collaboration between providers,” Christensen said.

“It will also mean coordinated scheduling for appointments and simplified registration, expanded hours and expanded insurances accepted. By transforming the way we coordinate care, our focus remains on the health and well-being of you and your family.”

Christensen explained that beginning July 1st, patients will have the convenience of calling just one phone number to schedule an appointment with any one of the 20 primary care providers on the MHP campus. For an appointment, call 641.672.3360.

Christensen also said the integration will expand clinic hours and walk-in availability. “With the addition of more providers to the group we are able to offer evening appointments Monday-Thursday and will accept walk-in visits and appointments every Saturday morning from 8:30 to 11:30.”

Christensen said that at first, not a lot will change within FMC or MHP. “We’re going to take the next few months to look at each of our processes in order to identify best practices for our combined organization. Our goal is to create a cohesive medical practice that improves patient flows and access to primary care when our patients need it most.”
