Louise King, 72, of Eddyville died Monday, September 9, 2019, at her home in Eddyville. She was born March 24, 1947, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the daughter of Corby and Alice Mae Thomson Barron.

Faira graduated from Oskaloosa High School with the class of 1965. Following high school, she went to work at the Camair Nursing Home in Oskaloosa.

In June of 1968, she was united in marriage to Gary Den Hartog. To this union three children were born, Brenda, Brian, and Belinda. Faira and Gary were divorced in 1980. On September 19, 1982, she was united in marriage to Donald King in Blakesburg, Iowa.

Faira worked at various restaurants. In 1983, she and Don opened King’s Lunch in Oskaloosa. Later that year they sold their building as preparations for the new mall in Oskaloosa were taking place. She went on to work at Big Smith in Oskaloosa and Everco in Ottumwa. Last she worked at Mahaska Hospital in Oskaloosa, retiring from there in 2013, after 17 years of service.

Faira was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Oskaloosa where she sang in the choir. She enjoyed attending her children and grandchildren’s activities. She was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. She also enjoyed following NASCAR. She was a talented musician and especially enjoyed singing and playing the piano.

Her family includes her husband of nearly 37 years Donald King of Eddyville; three children: Brenda (& Alfonso) Lopez, III of Eddyville, Brian Den Hartog of Dubuque, and Belinda (& Sean) Wursta of Eddyville; a step daughter, Dawn Chambers of Oskaloosa; eight grandchildren: Courtney (& Chad) Van Ringelestein, Chance Wursta, Cierra Lopez, Bryce (& Taylor Keegel) Wursta, Bret Wursta, Colby Lopez, Oscar Chambers, Chloe Den Hartog; a great granddaughter, Nadina Lopez-Gonzales; two sisters, Evelyn (& Richard) Criner of Boone and Carolyn (& Gene) Ryken of Conway, Arkansas; her mother in law, Loryne King of Cedar Rapids; and a sister in law, Linda Barron of Cedar Rapids.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Edwin (& Rita) Barron and Jon Barron; and her father in law, Cecil King.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 13, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel with Pastor Richard Grimes officiating.
Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery at Eddyville. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will begin Thursday after 10:00 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be at the funeral chapel from 5-7 Thursday evening to greet friends and relatives.
Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s and Related Disorders Association or Mahaska Health Hospice Serenity House.
